Fort Dodge Area Children's Chorus

The Fort Dodge Area Children’s Chorus is an integral beginning musical experience for children at McSweeny’s School of the Performing Arts.  It began in 1999, in an effort to establish and reinforce the development of proper vocal technique in children.  The Fort Dodge Area Children’s emphasis is on singing in tune, beginning language learning and part-singing.  The development of leadership skills is also stressed and encouraged.  The Fort Dodge Area Children’s Chorus is a non-auditioned group of singers primarily in 1st-8th grade.  Prior music reading skills are encouraged, but not required.  Singers rehearse twice a week for 60+ minutes.

Second semester rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, February 1 at 4:00 PM.  Singers in grades 1-8 are welcome to join.  The Children’s Chorus performs in bi-annual recitals held in December and May and selected members participate in area Bill Riley Talent Search Shows during the summer.  New student audition-interviews are being scheduled now.  Contact MaryAnn at 515-576-3636 for further information.
